1963 Houston 45's (Astros) Salada Tea Baseball Coin Dick Farrell:

Good coins, I can get better images, ask if interested. Offers consideredIn 1963 Salada Tea/Junket Desserts produced 63 different baseball coins. It must not be a coincidence that 63 coins were made for the 1963 season. With 20 teams only 0-4 players were selected from each team. the Mets and perhaps other teams had no players picked and Dick Farrell was the ONLY Houston player selected for this set. This all metal coin has a good photograph on the front and a red rim around it, no information was printed on the front. On the white back in black print there is the Salada Tea/Junket product names, the player's name, his position and Farrell's was pitcher, his wins and losses and ERA. He won ten, lost 20 and had a 2.98 ERA although baseball Reference states 3.02, close. He is better known as Turk Farrell and he played 14 years, all in the NL. He started with the Phillies and ended with them. He pitched 5 years for Houston and was on the first year of 1962 so I think he was on the expansion player list, certainly one of the best there if so. In 1963 his record was 14-13 and he won 11 games in 1964 and 1965 as well. Considering the teams he played for, his 106-111 was remarkable as was his ERA of 3.45. This is the ONLY Houston player that was on the 1963 coin list. If you are an Astro fan that's pretty special. It is in good general condition. It is all metal with a rim. There are minor imperfections on this coin but it look good although I don't know anything about graded coins and cards. On the back it is painted white with black print. The information on the back includes the Salada and Junket names, the player's name and position, his important statistics. On the top area in an arc there is the phrase, "Save and Trade 63 All Star Coins." and is clear and easily read.I listen to offers.
